Big mountain chargers rejoice, the Blizzard Cochise 106 Ski brings a new angle to the > 105mm, all in, metal laminate crowd. For the new year, Blizzard wants to emphasize newfound accessibility in the Cochise 106. A new poplar, beach and paulownia wood core offers a round, stout flex that is approachable through the tips, and strong underfoot like the days of yore. For 2021, gone are the days of a one-dimensional feel from the Cochise, enter a new era of versatility. A tightened-up turn radius goes along with the narrative of versatility, letting the ski be quicker edge to edge, vastly improving the maneuverability of the Cochise. Though the Cochise has been falling into the "Freeride" category as of late, the on-edge performance through smooth and variable snow is reminiscent of some frontside skis. Dual-layer titanal and rocker-camber-rocker gives this ski a lively and precise feel through high angle turns, urging the skier to finish carves with authority. When the powder starts to get skied out, the Cochise really starts to shine as it powers through uneven chop with ease and composure. For deeper days, a 138mm shovel provides life jacket flotation for top to bottom powder buoyancy. Sandwich Compound Sidewalls offer the high-end energy transfer that top-notch skiers require for powerful skiing. To be frank, this ski can actually handle anything you want to throw at it. Though it takes a skilled operator to excel in every category, the ski will lay trenches on groomers, float through pow and stomp cliffs like a champion. Playful, freestyle skiers look elsewhere, but strong, powerful skiers who want to ski at high speeds through every condition, the Cochise could be an awesome one-ski quiver.
