The Salomon X Max 100 is a low profile, fully customizeable boot (that's right, the shell AND liner are heat moldable) designed for advanced to expert skiers looking for the most precise fit. This boot has a 100 flex rating which offers sufficient support for aggressive skiers with a 98mm last that can expand a few mm's when heat molded (which can be done at any local Salomon dealer). The X Max 100 also features Salomon's Propietary "Oversized Pivot" that will allow the boot to flex more naturally during a turn, which in turn, makes turning feel more natural.
- Last - 98mm last
- Flex - 100
- Liner - My Custom Fit Liner Pro
- Shell - Salomon Custom Shell
- 24mm Oversize Pivot
- Buckles - Micro-adjustable aluminum buckles
- Replaceable Toe and Heel Pad
Tongue Pull - A loop of fabric at the top of the tongue helps in putting on and removing the boots. Pull it forward and to the side and your foot should slide right in.
Salomon Custom Shell - With some heating from a professional boot fitter's oven, the shell of this boot can be custom fitted to the exact needs of the skier. The mid to forefoot area can stretch, and at the widest point, the dimension will go from 100mm to about 106mm. Did the guy at the ski shop tell you that you need custom fitted boots? Well, here you go.
My Custom Fit Liner Pro - The stiffest and most responsive of Salomon's Custom fit liners, this liner will provide good performance and can be molded to the shape of your foot for the perfect blend of comfort and tight-fitting performance.
100 Flex Rating - This boot is pretty stiff, but not insanely stiff. A boot of this level is pretty good for upper-intermediate to expert level weekend warrior that is looking for something stiff enough to provide high-end response, while being wearable for an entire day of skiing.
35mm strap - Wider than average strap at the top of the boot to help keep the boot together and to give good performance while skiing.
98mm last - Forefoot width of 98mm for racing performance, not as concerned about comfort, although modern boots do a great job of keeping their performance boots quite comfortable.
24mm Oversize Pivot - Significantly larger than standard canting bolts, Salomon's 24mm Oversized Pivot helps align your boots for the most precise and efficient energy transfer between your boot and the ski. The larger diameter helps with wider skis since the torque on your boot is much higher.
Micro-adjustable aluminum buckles - These aluminum buckles can be moved to adjust for size, so if the default position of the buckle and the teeth is too wide or too narrow, you can move it until it fits.
Replaceable Toe and Heel Pads - This is a must-have for skiers that don't live in ski in/ski out condos. When your ski tech tells you that you have to buy new boots because the soles are worn down too much, just laugh at him and tell him to order you a new set of sole plates.
My Custom Fit Race Liner - The best liner in Salomon's line, it will mold to the skier's feet but isn't too cushy so its response in combination with a stiff shell will allow the skier to ski as aggressively as they can.
